Readers, representatives and the Wardens of the two congregations participated, presenting the tools of Rev. George’s ministry: Bibles; water, wine and bread; the Policy books of the Territory of the People, and the keys to the two churches and Rev. George and the people gathered covenanted together to support each other throughout Rev. George’s ministry here. The ceremony concluded with Holy Eucharist followed by a reception of delicious treats and beverages in King Hall.

What does the 2nd Sunday of Advent represent?
Today, the Second Sunday of Advent we light the second candle, which is the symbol of FAITH. The candle's name has its origins in the prophet Micah who prophesied Jesus would be born in Bethlehem. It is referred to as the Bethlehem Candle.
Advent is a season observed in most Christian denominations as a time of expectant waiting and preparation for both the celebration of the Nativity of Christ at Christmas and the return of Christ at the Second Coming. Advent is the beginning of the liturgical year in Western Christianity. The name was adopted from Latin adventus "coming; arrival", translating Greek parousia from the New Testament, originally referring to the Second Coming.
The season of Advent in the Christian calendar anticipates the "coming of Christ" from three different perspectives: the physical nativity in Bethlehem, the reception of Christ in the heart of the believer, and the eschatological Second Coming.
Practices associated with Advent include Advent calendars, lighting an Advent wreath, praying an Advent daily devotional, erecting a Christmas tree or a Chrismon tree, lighting a Christingle, as well as other ways of preparing for Christmas, such as setting up Christmas decorations, a custom that is sometimes done liturgically through a hanging of the greens ceremony.

On Sunday, October 1, the Sunday closest to the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi this year, a service of Blessing of the Animals was held at Grace Church. Rev. George Westgate lead a delightful service of song and praise and blessing, ably accompanied by a chorus of barks, yips and woofs. Each pet revelled in being personally blessed and given a tasty treat for good behaviour. Watch the service here:
