Announcements January 20 - January 26, 2025

Sunday’s Readings: January 26, 2025; Third Sunday After Epiphany

Nehemiah 8.1-3, 5-6, 8-10; Psalm 19; 1 Corinthians 12.12-31a; Luke 4.14-21

Heavenly Lord, we pray that you will be with all those who have been displaced by fire, floods and any other natural disaster throughout the entire world. Help those who are helping to find them all that they need and be with all who are fighting the dangers. We ask this in your Son’s Holy name.  Amen.

Parish Notes
  • Grace Church Prayer Group meets alternate Mondays at 9:30 a.m. in the church. Next meeting will take place on January 27.
  • UNBC Food Bank has asked for support for their Food Drive between January 25 and February 5. The amount of hours that “out of country” students are allowed to work in Canada has been reduced which means that many students have less money to afford food. Our contributions of non-perishable food items will be deeply appreciated and can be placed in the designated box at the back of the church.
  • The lunch bag program at St. Michael and All Angels is getting ready for the cold weather.  Currently they are low on mittens ONLY. For more information, please contact Margot at margotmandy@gmail.com.
  • All year round we at Grace support several helping organizations including New Hope Society and Shepherds Corner. New Hope Society provides a drop-in center, food and warm clothing to female sex trade workers and Shepherd’s Corner provides warm clothing and food for inadequately housed people. New Hope clients always need warm clothing, especially footwear and small women’s underwear as well as healthy hand snacks.  Shepherd’s Corner distribute snacks, clothing, especially winter coats, warm socks and boots, and warm gloves. Donations in kind can be put in the baskets at the rear of the church and cash donations can be made through your regular offering.
  • Trinity United Church members are making either knit or crocheted teddy bears for each child that moves into their Harmony House. If you are willing/able to help them out, please let Denise know as she can supply wool and the pattern. Harmony House is also looking for double bed sized quilts for each bed at Harmony House.
  • We encourage people to sign up for coffee and goodies following the 10:00 a.m. service on Sundays.  Sign-up sheet is at the back bulletin board.
  • We would appreciate if people would volunteer to provide flowers for the Altar on Sundays.  Small plants work great and last a few weeks.  Please let Denise (250 562-5611) in the office or Sharon Armistead (250 964-1251) know if you would like to provide anything.
